On the same day, the National Investigation Agency of India conducted raids at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir including the residence of rector Darul Uloom Raheemiyyah (one of the most prominent religious schools in the valley) Moulana Rehmatullah Qasmi. Qasmi had recently issued a strong statement against the crackdown and detention of many religious scholars and clerics across the valley. The raid can be seen as a tool of intimidation to browbeat scholars like Qasmi into silence.[5]
