Writers, scholars raise concerns over shrinking space for dissent in Kashmir SRINAGAR, Jammu and Kashmir…
On 29th July, Indian authorities sealed five more residential houses of Kashmiri Muslims under UAPA in Srinagar. The seizure was justified by stating that the houses were being used for pro-freedom political activities, and any such activity is labelled as “terrorism” by the Indian state. By depriving people of their homes, the Indian state aims at increasing the cost of associating with the pro self-determination movement, and forcing people to choose between a roof over their head and the right to self-determination.
