On December 6th, Indian authorities arrested a Kashmiri journalist from the Islamabad district of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a 2017 case. It was not immediately clear what the charges in the case are. Khalid Gul is one of the several journalists whose residence was raided by Indian police last month, part of India’s systematic crackdown on journalists and press freedom in the valley. After a day under detention, Gul was later granted bail by a local court.[2][3]
