On August 16th, a Kashmiri was killed by unidentified gunmen. Without any investigation and presentation of evidence, the police identified a Kashmiri pro-freedom armed fighter, Adil Ahmad Wani, as the perpetrator of the killing. The family members of Wani have been arrested, and their house has also been seized by the Indian state. Under no humanitarian law is arresting the kin of the accused and seizure of their house justified. The father of Wani and his three brothers have been arrested. The house was also partially destroyed.[13]
