On 11th July, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, granted sanction for the confiscation of four residential houses and seizure of three vehicles that are reported to have provided assistance to pro-freedom activism. UAPA allows the Indian state to seize the property of any political dissident in Kashmir, and also suspend them from employment, hence denying them livelihood.
