India Forms Committees to Coerce Kashmiri Households into Hoisting Indian Flags

On 15th July, the Jammu and Kashmir colonial administration constituted a seven-member committee to enforce the implementation of the “Har Ghar Jhanda” scheme across the occupied territory. The scheme involves hoisting of an Indian flag over every house in Kashmir, by force if necessary. The state is coercing the Kashmiri population into identifying with the Indian state, a state that has engaged in prolonged human rights violations against them. The rejection on the part of Kashmiris to raise the flag will likely result in their detention, or some form of penalization.
