On July 13, during the trial of Abdul Qadeer, who was accused of encouraging Kashmiris to rise up against the tyranny of the Dogra, people gathered in Srinagar. The Dogra troops massacred 22 Kashmiris. Protests erupted all over Kashmir following the massacre but the uprising was brutally suppressed.
