National Investigation Agency of India Carries out Raids against Kashmiris

On 8th of August, the National Investigation Agency carried out raids at multiple places in the Jammu and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir against members of a banned social welfare organization called Jamaat-e-Islami. Jamaat is known in Kashmir for setting up schools for the needy, creating infrastructures of support for the orphans and the widows, and other educational and welfare work. The Indian state has banned the organization, accusing it of supporting the pro-freedom armed rebellion in Kashmir. In 2019, more than 300 activists and workers of the organization were illegally detained.[8][9]
