On 26th November, Indian authorities in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district seized thirteen properties belonging to the socio-religious welfare organization, Jamaat-e-Islam, under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. India has launched a systematic crackdown against Jamaat-e-Islami, a Muslim organization that is known in Kashmir for providing assistance to the destitute and running schools for the disadvantaged and poor. Many of their leaders have been detained for having pro-freedom “views”. [16]
