Four Kashmiri Muslim Students Beaten and Assaulted in Noida

On 16th August, four Kashmiri Muslim students of the Law Department of Amity University in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, were assaulted and beaten by locals. The family members of the assaulted students see the incident as a hate-crime, as Kashmiri Muslim students have faced attacks in different states of India in the past as well.

The culture of impunity within which these attacks occur can be gauged by the fact that when the assaulted students went to the police to register a complaint, the police placed them in detention and subjected them to interrogation.

“Rather than questioning and apprehending the accused responsible for the harassment, the police detained four boys who were subjected to physical aggression,” the Jammu Kashmir Students’ Association said in a statement.
