On 7th September, Indian state arrested two Kashmiris and labeled them as “hybrid-militants”, a category that the state uses arbitrarily to label any pro-freedom Kashmiri as a “terrorist”. The category is commonly used in Kashmir to dehumanize Kashmiris who provide logistical support to pro-freedom armed groups, or merely have sympathetic thoughts or feelings towards the self-determination movement.[4]
