On 8th February, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti was detained in New Delhi for protesting against the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir administration’s demolition drive in the valley. Many political analysts have called the drive “dispossession through demolition”. At the protest site, Mufti stated: “Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into Afghanistan by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The administration is using bulldozers to demolish the homes of the poor in the name of an anti-encroachment drive.” In the footage aired by local television channels, Mufti was seen being lifted by police officials from the protest site and taken into a police van[6].
