On 7th July, the Administrative Council which met under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor of occupied Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, approved the enhancement of ex-gratia relief to the next-of-kin (NoK) of occupying armed forces based in the valley. The ex-gratia award shall range from Rs 5.00 lacs to Rs 25.00 lacs in favor of NoK of Indian armed forces personnel in Kashmir. The move aims at incentivizing military recruitment in mainland India, essentially luring armed personnel into being stationed in Kashmir.
