Thank Representatives For Attending The Hearing on Kashmir

On October 22nd, 2019 the House Committee on Foreign Affairs held a hearing on Human Rights in South Asia, it focused primarily on the issue of Kashmir. You can listen to panel I here and panel II here.

We are very appreciative of the Congresspersons who attended and posed important questions that helped bring the issue of Kashmir to the forefront, However we are somewhat disappointed that no one brought up the fact that Kashmir is a disputed territory and no one challenged India on their nullification of Article 370. Please call them to thank them and share our concerns:

    Sample Call Script:

    Dear Representative [Insert Last Name],

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to you for attending yesterday’s hearing on Human Rights in South Asia. You have shown through your presence, as well as your thoughtful and important questions that you stand with persistence and integrity for the cause of human rights. This hearing is a historical marker for the cause of the Kashmiri people. I hope that it is just the first step you have taken in a series of actions that will finally help the Kashmiri region achieve peace. I ask you to please move towards sponsoring a Kashmiri Human rights resolution. I also hope that at the next chance to speak to this issue you will also mention the fact that Kashmir is a disputed territory as well as question India’s decision to nullify Article 370 of their constitution and whether that was a legally sound action or not.
